R/TRO Renewal (Ongoing Professional Contribution)
Since TRO’s inception (November 1999), the organization has worked diligently to lay the cornerstones for regulation by developing a provincial Code of Ethics and a nationally recognized set of Standards of Practice. TRO is an organization that is based on a ‘grass roots’ philosophy, and has used a collaborative approach with its members in terms of content and acceptance of these two critical documents. The registration (R/TRO) designation is currently a voluntary credential that demonstrates a level of excellence. As the province continues to move toward regulation, the R/TRO will represent the minimum credential necessary.
The R/TRO Renewal (Ongoing Professional Contribution) process demonstrates the accountability to the therapeutic recreation profession in the province of Ontario through continuing with professional contributions after receiving the R/TRO designation.
The R/TRO renewal program requires that every 5 years, R/TRO designation holders must renew their registration by providing proof of continued learning. This proof is obtained by collecting a minimum 25 professional contribution points within that timeframe.
