(289) 626-TRO1 (8761) - Get In Touch

Therapeutic Recreation Ontario has gathered TR program ideas from our members and online to help other TRs continue to run their programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. See below for TR Talk Tuesday information, Infographics, online resources & tips, and COVID-19 updates from TRO.

TR Talk

TR Talk is a chance to connect with colleagues working in various settings across the province and share program ideas and/or seek advice from other TR professionals about challenges you are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This informal online forum uses video conferencing to enable us to have a face-to-face conversation in real time. Each session will be recorded and posted on this page, along with a compilation of the resources and tips discussed during the session. Let’s lean on each other and stay connected in this ever-changing environment.

Upcoming Meetings

TR Talk: Aging CoP

A discussion on the roles of recreation therapists and assistants in long-term care settings, the benefits and challenges of being in a unionized department, and the issues related to staffing shortages in the recreation therapy workforce.

Join the zoom meeting here.

Send your suggestions to Elani Phillips, Communications and Member Engagement Coordinator. If you have an idea for a discussion topic for a future TR Talk, let us know!

Past Meetings

Recordings for TR Talks will be kept for only 30 days.

TR Talk Words Aloud: Townhall Storytelling for EDI

Did you ever need to search to find your own sense of belonging? Have you ever felt pressure to conform or fit in? Have you ever witnessed an unconscious bias? It’s time to share in conversation of personal or professional issues, lived experiences, or examples of TR practice that can contribute to the advocacy of EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) work, in February’s TR Talk, a townhall for storytelling. While we invite you to share with us openly in this townhall, overall you are encouraged to be present in the space where listening can lead to reflection, empathy, awareness, connection, and mutual respect. Interrupting bias and striving for inclusion can be a long journey and storytelling is a major vehicle to help get us there. Join TR Talk Words Aloud: Townhall Storytelling for EDI, a space where we can nurture trust, authenticity, belonging, and safety with shared stories about equity, diversity, and inclusion
